The ideal candidate for this position has worked with high-load, high-availability websites previously and must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. About Mobicom Africa Mobicom is a software development house that works on its own applications as well as selected EXCITING applications from other EXCITING companies. Responsibilities: * Work in a fast paced and highly collaborative development environment tasked with engineering improvements to our site’s features, performance and interface using PHP * Build new features and enhancements as we scale our systems with growth. * Prototype and implement optimization techniques and participate in design and code reviews * Continuously improve Mobicom’s products, usability and user experience Requirements: * Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent. * At least 4+ years development experience using PHP. Experience with at least 1 PHP framework. * Must have expertise in Object Oriented Programming, MySQL, and Web Services. * Knowledge AJAX, HTML, JavaScript. * Experience in developing joomla plugins, modules, components etc * Configuration and deployment of web applications in Apache. * Experience with full lifecycle of web development projects. * Expertise in Internet standards (e.g. HTTP, XML, SOAP, CSS). * Extensive experience in relational database (MySQL and query optimization). * Experience in IT infrastructure issues (web and application server setup, load-balancing, firewalls, etc.). * Leader and independent worker. * Technical innovator and thought leader. * Strong consultative skills. * Collaborative relationship with clients and team members. * Strong technical documentation skills. * Excellent communication skills; written, verbal and presentation.
