Infectious Disease/Small Animal Internal Medicine Duties/Responsibilities: Research: The selected individual will develop an extramurally funded, independent research program with an emphasis in infectious disease or other related Small Animal Internal Medicine discipline. Individuals who can develop collaborative multi-disciplinary studies in areas of comparative biology and medicine are of particular interest. Duties will include development and management of a research program, grantsmanship, and mentoring of graduate students and residents (approximately 60-70% time). Clinical Service and Teaching: The selected individual will be expected to participate in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of Small Animal Internal Medicine cases presented to the Veterinary Medical Center (VMC), lead a clinical teaching service in the VMC, and provide consultation to local veterinarians (approximately 20% time). Professional and Graduate Education: The selected individual will be expected to participate in the didactic and laboratory instruction of professional and graduate students. This individual will also be expected to advise graduate students, post doctoral fellows, and mentor Small Animal Internal Medicine residents (approximately 10-15% time). Required/Preferred Qualifications: DVM/VMD or equivalent foreign degree and specialty board certification or eligibility for certification in small animal internal medicine. Preference will be given to individuals with demonstrated research expertise in infectious diseases, and individuals who can provide evidence of outstanding teaching, clinical and interpersonal skills.
