Postdoctoral Fellow in Cognitive Engineering The CSIRO's Intelligent Sensing and Systems Laboratory (ISSL) is developing innovative systems to support decision making through its world-class ICT research capability in environmental sensor networks, mobile sensor integration, computational intelligence and semantic and knowledge engineering. CSIRO offers two Postdoctoral research fellowships in cognitive engineering. Cognitive engineering includes the use of theories and methods from cognitive science to inform engineering practice, and the use of engineering theories, methods and techniques to investigate, understand and augment human cognition. Specifically you will be responsible for: • Producing quality research in the area of cognitive engineering, with an emphasis on the application and development of eye gaze tracking and psychophysiology systems • Designing and implementing quantitative empirical studies in a laboratory environment • Writing technical reports and contribute to research proposals • Participating in the development of an eScience infrastructure for psychophysiological, eye tracking and human factors research • Contributing, as part of an interdisciplinary team, in the analysis of experimental results. • Publishing research results in leading journals and conferences. Location: Hobart, Tasmania, Australia Salary: $78K-$85K plus up to 15.4% superannuation Tenure: 3 year term Ref No: ACT13/01393 To be successful you will have: • Doctorate in a relevant field of cognitive engineering or equivalent. • Evidence of impact in research through scientific citizenship, a good publication record and ongoing research agenda. • Evidence of impact in the research field through the supervision of junior researchers and students, or equivalent industry experience. • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication, negotiation and representational skills. • Skills/experience in empirical experiment design, implementation and quantitative data analysis. • Evidence of working collaboratively with peers, reports and supervisors.
