Postdoctoral Fellow: Ultrasonic Imaging, Signal ProcessingPostdoctoral Fellow: Ultrasonic Imaging, Signal Processing Project: Real Time Ultrasonic Inspection of Resistance Spot Welds Institute for Diagnostic Imaging Research University of Windsor, Windsor, ON Description: A postdoctoral research fellow with physics, computer science or electrical engineering background and able to work in a multidisciplinary environment is needed. Candidates should be experienced with ultrasonic imaging, signal and image processing, computer programming, and data acquisition systems. • The work will be related to conducting research in the area of ultrasonic imaging and material characterization as well as development and prototyping of devices (including ultrasound array systems) for industrial non-destructive testing (NDE) applications. • A Ph.D degree is required. • Advanced skills in experimental work including: planning and conducting experiments, taking measurements, performing data analysis and result reporting is required. • Advanced skills and experience in processing of ultrasonic signals and images including pattern recognition, image reconstruction, feature detection and enhancement, handling of image arrays, interaction with major database types, and data mining are highly appreciated. • Fundamental knowledge of acoustics and hands-on experience with ultrasonic equipment is desired. Experience with design of electronic devices is a plus. • Programming skills with Matlab, LabView, etc. and skills in low-level equipment interfacing is desired. Working knowledge of C/C++ is a plus. • Experience in working with phased array systems is a plus. Duration: Initial appointment will be for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year upon satisfactory performance and available funding.
