Postdoctoral FellowA postdoctoral position is available from the above date in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Section of Abdominal Imaging at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center at Houston. The focus of this research position is in computed tomography (CT) perfusion imaging. Our main goals are to evaluation, refine and develop the technique to apply to the assessment of tumor and tissue perfusion. Our work is targeted at body tumors (as distinct from brain or head and neck tumors) which is particularly challenging because of breathing, movement and cardiac pulsation. The specific 2 year project is based on the assessment and application of “Shuttle CT” to abdominal perfusion imaging. Shuttle CT is a commercially available product (from GEHealthcare) which allows rapid back-and-forth motion of the CT table during CT acquisitions. The technique allows an increased volume of tissue to be images and evaluated. The requirements of the project are to critically evaluate the technique and to assess and develop its application in abdominal CT perfusion imaging. Highly motivated candidates with a recent Ph.D. in Medical Physics, Image Processing, Engineering or one of the physical, mathematical or computer sciences are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates should have strong skills in imaging registration and segmentation, imaging processing and analysis, and be conversant with Matlab, linux-based operating systems, shell scripting and DICOM manipulations. The qualified candidates are expected to work independently and as part of a team, with good written and oral communication skills. Applicants should send their CV with bibliography, contact information and three letters of references to Dr. Chaan Ng via email: cng@mdanderson.org. M. D.
