Researcher/ Professor in the field of Telecommunication NetworksCenter for Scientific Research and Higher Education of Ensenada (CICESE), Mexico CICESE, through the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position (researcher/professor) in the field of Telecommunication Networks. We are searching for a self-driven and motivated individual who can establish a vigorous research program and, at the same time, maintain a strong interest in teaching at the graduate level. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree or equivalent in electrical engineering, computer science, or related disciplines. They must have expertise on modern telecommunication systems and, in particular, on areas related to broadband communications, which may include network protocols, wired and wireless networks, optical communications, coding, information theory, and signal processing. Research startup funds may be available for this position and will depend upon the candidate qualifications and the nature of the research project. The successful candidate should have a strong record of research and scholar activity and a commitment to education. Postdoctoral and teaching experience is desirable, as well as the ability to participate in interdisciplinary research projects. The Department offers M.S. and Ph.D. Degree programs in Electronics and Telecommunications. Teaching is, therefore, an integral part of the position and the successful candidate is expected to teach in all fields of telecommunication networks at the graduate level. The successful candidate can initially teach in English, but should be willing to switch to Spanish in a reasonable time frame. CICESE is the largest of 27 research centers coordinated by Mexico’s National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT). It is located in the city of Ensenada, in the State of Baja California, México. The Ensenada area is a growing academic cluster of research institutions, surrounded by an expanding array of high technology companies. Salaries are competitive and depend on qualifications and performance. In the assessment of the candidates, consideration will be given to: scientific production and research potential, teaching ability, success in attracting external funding, and the potential contribution to the academic life of the Department and of CICESE in general. Application materials must include: a) a cover letter, b) curriculum vitae, c) a statement of research accomplishments and future plans, d) a brief research proposal, and e) two letters of reference. First consideration will be given to applications received by April 15, 2013, but the review can continue until June 15, 2013. A personal (or virtual) interview can be demanded as part of the selection process, and some candidates may be invited to give a talk at the Department. The selected candidate will be able to take-up his/her post shortly after a decision is made.
