Government Plans To Connect All Counties With Internet The government has decided to venture on a plan to roll out a terrestrial cable network across all the counties. This project’s main aim is to ensure that all Kenyans are connected in a way, as in the envisioned recently launched National ICT master plan. Information and Communication Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i was quoted saying that the government will ensure there is a fibre optic termination in all counties to ensure that Kenyan citizens can access internet across the country. Dr. Matiang’i further went on to add that he will help in realising this dream by offering government services to the public online. They are currently working on rolling out a second phase of the National Optical Fibre Backbone Infrastructure to spread across all the 47 counties. We are sure that this will greatly help increase reach the e-government services in the remote areas. Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru, says this internet connection in the counties will help boost the service delivery as the Jubilee government is trying their best to deliver its campaign promises to Kenyans. The internet connectivity will also increase efficiency in schools and hospitals while nurturing internet-enabled businesses which are key to the economic growth.
