Energy modeling development and operation of future railway station buildings. post-doc job

Energy modeling development and operation of future railway station buildings. post-doc job will carry out modeling and computer simulations of energy consumption in railways stations. This work will be part of an innovation and development program led by the Chair Econoving bringing together a consortium (PRES Universud Paris) of academic and industrial partners – ALSTOM, GDF SUEZ, Italcementi, Saur and SNCF. The work of the post-doc will support the achievement of a predefined set of project tasks which will address designing, testing and subsequently operating energy models for the equipment and for the buildings of a railway station. The aim is to identify the most effective approaches toward improving the efficiency of the railway station as a whole, and thus improve the perspectives for energy savings. Further, the project seeks to increase technical and managerial flexibility on the way towards smart energy management, and overall integration of the existing constraints of the station (building envelop, energy production, storage and consumption, consumption modes, etc…). Some complementary tasks might be addressed by the post-doc, according to future work advancement and project results (statistical analyses of energy consumption data, command control design, etc). Required/desirable competences and abilities The following criteria will be in particular taken into account for applicant selection: • PhD grade in building thermal and/or physics – required • Good knowledge in energy and thermal science, in modeling and numerical simulation: development & integration, specific components improvement for existing calculation codes – highly desirable • High proficiency in modeling & numerical simulation software, namely applied to building and energy (TRNSYS and/or MATLAB, knowing Dymola-Modelica tool is a considerable asset) – highly desirable • Motivation and capacity of work, autonomy – desirable Employer Econoving Chair (UVSQ, PRES Universud PARIS): with 50% of time at GDF Suez (R&D, CRIGEN), and 50% of time at SUPELEC (laboratory).
