The ongoing National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) registration dubbed Huduma Namba is experiencing low turn out in Migori County with only 30,000 people captured so far.
According to Suna East sub-county Deputy County Commissioner Daniel Mutiso, they expected to have about 150,000 people registered after the first week of the launch.
He, however, expressed optimism that the number will increase this week saying they have resolved some of the challenges hampering the exercise, among them mechanical and internet problems especially in areas that border Kenya and Tanzania.
Mr. Mutiso added that 1,038 registration assistants have been deployed in the 211 sub-locations in the county to carry out the exercise, further urging members of the public to register.
The deputy commissioner also urged locals to ignore rumours being peddled about the Huduma Namba saying the exercise has no ill motives but will increase the efficiency and reliability of government services to the people.
The registration exercise began on April 3, 2019 and is expected to run for 45 days, according to the government.
