Maintenance Engineer Job in Kenya - Telecommunications Industry Our client in the telecommunications industry is looking to fill the position of a Maintenance Engineer who will report to the Maintenance Manager. Overall Purpose of the Job Attend to all maintenance, breakdown and upgrade of the network (HFC, WiMax, Old CATV fiber, internal network). Plan and execute routine preventive, curative and emergency maintenance. Roles and Responsibilities 1. Maintaining the Groups outside plant infrastructure that includes; a. Wimax Base Stations b. HFC Network c. Metro Ethernet Plant d. CATV network e. Satellite Downlink dish facilities f. Facilities such as generators, air conditioning 2. Execution of network related escalations that are forwarded from NOC, Engineering, Customer Service and Service Delivery teams 3. Commissioning of any new network and the related equipments on the organization’s infrastructure. a. Certifying the HFC new Nodes b. Drive tests and optimization c. Simulations 4. Coordinating contractors and other third parties in ensuring that the infrastructure remains secure, usable and functional with minimal or no downtimes. a. KPLC b. Airtel c. Essar 5. Perform field review of potential maintenance works and develop recommended maintenance plans both curative and preventive with a target of 99.999% uptime. 6. Diagnose faults, breakdown, equipment failure and oversee time-critical repairs with minimal downtime 7. Perform network performance assessment, make recommendations for improvement and report to management for appropriate action. 8. Use personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles. 9. Adhere to health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to care of equipments.
