Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Genomics and Genetics Description: We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow

Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Genomics and Genetics Description: We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the Computational and Statistical Genetics and Genomics group based in the Center for Human Genetics Research (CHGR) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The general interest of the group is to develop statistical methods and computational tools to understand genetic and genomic characteristics of human diseases through cutting-edge high-throughput technologies with a primary focus on next-generation sequencing. Current disease-focused projects include using whole exome sequencing to identify genetic variations associated with anorexia nervosa and autism, and to identify somatic genomic abnormalities in neuroendocrine tumors. The successful applicant is expected to participate in the integrative analysis of genomic data and to develop efficient methods to address outstanding challenges. The CHGR provides an excellent environment and resources for genetics and genomic studies. We have access to a campus-wide computing cluster with nearly 4000 cores for data storage and processing. Successful applicants will also have great opportunities to collaborate locally and nationally with a multidisciplinary research team. Vanderbilt University Medical Center offers competitive salaries that are commensurate with experience. For more information please visit http://chgr.mc.vanderbilt.edu. Qualifications: Applicants with a doctoral degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or other disciplines with strong quantitative backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Programming skills in C/C++, Java, Perl/Python or other programming languages and familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems are desired. Experience in genomics or statistical genetics research is a strong plus. Contact: Interested applicants should send a CV with the contact information of 3 references to bingshan.li[at]vanderbilt.edu, or Bingshan Li, 519 Light Hall, 2215 Garland Ave., Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN 37232. Vanderbilt University is an equal opportunity employer. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
