Graduate, Postdoctoral and Senior Research Awards in all Areas of Science and EngineeringThe National Research Council of the National Academies offers competitive awards four times annually for independent graduate, postdoctoral and senior research in participating US federal laboratories and affiliated institutions. These awards provide recipients with the opportunity to devote full time to research at state-of-the-art facilities often unique to the government research enterprise Applicants design their own research projects to be compatible with the overall interests of the sponsoring laboratory. Many opportunities are open to non-US as well as US citizens. Stipends for recent Ph.D. recipients range from $42,000 to $80,000 per annum and are higher for additional experience. Graduate entry level stipends begin at $30,000 per annum.
