Post-doctoral Researcher in Social CognitionOpen POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCHER position in aivoAALTO brain research project with the role of shared understanding in social cognition as the specific focus area of research We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to work in the Aalto University aivoAALTO flagship project that involves study of brain function using naturalistic stimuli such as movies and music during non-invasive neuroimaging. The specific focus area in this call is social cognition, in particular similarity of neurocognitive and emotional processing as determinants of shared understanding. The position is fixed term for one year, and the post-doctoral researcher will be based in the Aalto University School of Science, Department of Biomedical Engineering and Computational Science. The research methods include functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), recording of eye-movements, and self-report/behavioral measures. The project combines in a unique way cognitive neuroscience, computational sciences, and also cinematographic arts. Job Description The tasks of the post-doctoral researcher consist of running fMRI studies, recording eye movement and behavioral measurements, data analyses, and reporting of the results in high-quality international peer-reviewed journals. The project also offers an exciting learning opportunity as advances in fMRI data analysis method development efforts by BECS computational scientists will be utilized in the research. The post-doctoral work will be jointly supervised by Prof. Mikko Sams and Dr. Iiro P. Jääskeläinen. Who are we looking for? The most suitable applicant has recently completed a doctoral degree in an area such as psychology, cognitive science, medicine, physics, or engineering. We are especially seeking applicants with familiarity in neuroimaging research, computational methods, and with programming skills. The applicant is required to have both good teamwork skills and ability to work independently. Command of English at high level is also required. What do we have to offer? The aivoAALTO flagship project combines the expertise in cognitive neuroscience of Aalto University School of Science Department of Biomedical Engineering and Computational Science and O.V. Lounasmaa Laboratory, together totaling about 100 scientists. The Aalto University brain research infrastructure offers a uniquely rich variety of non-invasive neuroimaging methods (fMRI, MEG, EEG, TMS). We also offer competitive salary and flexible working hours. The starting salary is 3785€/month, depending on the employee's skills and experience, and includes health care benefits. The position is full-time, based on the total working time of 1600 hours a year. How can I apply?
