Postdoctoral Researcher in Electromechanics and Power ElectronicsThe Michigan Power and Energy Laboratory (M-PEL) will have a postdoctoral position available to begin in the Summer or Fall of 2013 in the area of power electronics and electromechanical systems. The research aims to develop an optimized in-hub integrated motor drive for electric/hybrid vehicles, in collaboration with DENSO. Speci c objectives include the design of: a high-performance electric machine which achieves Constant Power over a Wide Speed Range (CPWSR), the corresponding drive power electronics and control system, and the thermal management system. The design will be oriented towards next-generation hybrid/electric vehicles. This is a collaborative e ffort with industry, and it is expected the applicant will interact closely with DENSO. Quali fied candidates should have a Ph.D. with a specialization in electromechanics and power electronics, and possess a keen interest in machine and circuit design. Salary will be set according to the institutional scale at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
